This is one of the more popular cafes that serve mille crepes which used to be craze not too long ago. Since I was crazy bout desserts, I tried mille crepes at a few places. The mille crepes at Nadeje are not the best I have tasted but they are one of the better ones.
My favourite was the one with gula melaka. I could not remember the taste though. I was also recommended to try the strawberry one but it was only average. Nadeje has the typical stamp collection program so it helps if you are a regular otherwise the card would just get misplaced and forgotten.
My friend from Melaka has been mentioning about this "crepe" cake ever since we planned to take a trip down to Melaka. So we finally did and went to try the one at Mahkota Parade.
First thing I noticed about the place was their chairs. They are geometrically shaped chairs which can be adjusted into a puzzle-like form. And when joined, it becomes like a huge sofa. The flavour I tried was the Choco Banana and the original one. Yumm! I'd say it was pretty interesting as it is actually like hundreds of thin layers of crepe, stacked on each other. My friends and I were 'pealing' them one by one to taste it. Was pretty cool, just like a layer cake, but better!
Would definitely go back there again for more.
This cake has a very unique texture at every bite. So yummy, made of many layers of crepe, every layer is meticulously spread with cream, this is one of the best desserts! Most people still prefer the original flavour, a good aroma of vanilla, sweet and smooth texture.
But then again, I personally feel that this place is over-rated with its service and environment.
I’m writing this concluding from my last visit to this cake shop on last Sunday, it’s just few days ago. First of all, the place was hot - air conditioning was non-existent. I was quite surprised that the waiters here tend to be ignorant of their customers. I didn’t really mind doing all the serving myself but the counter was cramped and walkway was cramped.
So my sister and I ended up by taking the cakes away and eating them at MacDonald nearby. I went there because I read a lot of good reviews about this shop but they never mention the abysmal service.
This is one of the places that I would always find time to visit whenever I'm in Melaka. The cakes are just too irresistible. I wish they would open up outlets in other cities in Malaysia or even in Singapore. Almost every flavour is good and the ones I particularly like are the original, rum and raisin and the banana chocolate flavours.
The decor of the two branches are quite nice, although a little dark. But they really should expand! There's always a queue whenever I'm there. Seeing that demand is so high, no wonder the prices are high too!
Nadeje has the most popular mille crepe cake in Melaka! You have to wait for a long queue on the weekend. However, the price for a slice of mille crepe cost RM10! This is far way too high for a slice of cake (at least for me). And I think it is too sweet and not really recommended for those who like healthy meals. The service is really disappointed by the way. You can try for a slice if you went to melaka next time :) But i would prefer to go for Secret Recipe for cakes rather than Nadeje. You'd be the judge!
The only cake shop I will (and must) visit whenever I'm in town, Nadeje Cake Shop bake one of the few, finest mille crepe cakes I have tasted. I especially adore the Original and Chocolate flavor, how the layers of cream and cake melt in unison.
Unfortunately, service at the shop itself is far from great- my visits are often marked by long, long unattended waits with neither smiles nor apologies. As someone from out of town who don't have access to Nadeje daily to satisfy my cravings, I have discovered a new and better alternative: Humble Beginnings. They do mille crepe cake deliveries, and the taste's on par to Nadeje's, but you must order a whole cake everytime instead of just slices of it.
My first try on mille crepe was at Nadeje when I visited Malacca last time. I still think their mille crepe is better than others in Klang Valley, like Food Foundry and Ochado. It is kind of disappointing that all 3 outlets are only available in Malacca, I really hope that they will open at least one in Klang Valley.
Few months ago, they came out with the new Nama Donuts. For your information, the Japanese word ‘nama’ means raw/uncooked. As its name suggests, these Nama donuts are not baked nor fried, but frozen into a donut shape.
I like the interesting appearance and texture of the donut, which is due to the combination of various ingredients including sponge cake, mousse, jelly and fruit. It tasted quite good, especially when chilled. Definitely something new to try out.
This shop sells layered cakes that comes in an assortment of flavors.
What I had there was the original and green tea flavor. The layers are really thin and soft while the filling is delicious.
Besides cakes, the most often overlooked thing about Nadeje is their food. They serve one of the best Japanese curry rice there as the curry is savory, spicy and a little sweet. My friend has the black pepper udon and said that it's good.
For beverage(s), I'd recommend trying the Yakult Shake or 7-Up with pickled fruit ( a choice of strawberry or mango) which are really good.
The queue during weekends is insane so plan ahead.
The dessert that you should try when you visit Melaka besides the cendul. When i first saw the cake, gosh! How can they make it? It really has layers of flour skins with cream in between. I can describe it with any words, it's just amazing! There are a lot of flavours: original, green tea, chocolate banana, strawberries and many more. I had try about 10 flavours since I went with 14 friends. There is one thing that I don't like is the service. They didn't allow us to add on one more table to fit 15 of us by claiming that they cant change the restaurant designs which we think it was an excuse, so we ended up squeezing together.
